This bright red hummus is not only beautiful, but also extremely tasty and healthy. The combination of chickpeas, beets and protein powder makes it a perfect appetizer or healthy breakfast. The sweet taste of the beets is balanced by the spicy spices and the slight acidity of the lemon. As a delicious dip, it’s a great addition to falafel and pita, but you can also enjoy it with carrot and celery sticks or even as a spread on toast. Products required:

  • 4 servings (24g) of Herbalife’s Formula 3 Custom Protein Powder
  • 2 small heads of raw beets (about 175 g)
  • 1 tin of chickpeas (400g), drained (reserve the liquid)
  • 2 tablespoons coriander, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons of cumin
  • 1 tablespoon tahini
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame, for decoration
  • Handful of coriander leaves, for garnish
  • Salt to taste

Method of preparation:

  1. Peel the beets, cut them into cubes and place them in a food processor.
  2. Drain the chickpeas from the can, but reserve the liquid.
  3. Tip the chickpeas over the beets and add the cilantro, cumin, tahini paste, Formula 3 custom protein powder, lemon juice and olive oil.
  4. Blitz well in the blender, adding a little of the liquid from the can of chickpeas so that the mixture is not so thick.
  5. Pour the resulting hummus into a bowl, garnish with sesame and coriander leaves and enjoy.

Tips:

  • For a more spicy taste, add some chili pepper, if you want to add a pinch of strong sensations, put a chopped red chili pepper in the food processor.
  • You can use pre-cooked and cooled beets to save time.
  • Hummus can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days, covered with a lid or preferably in an airtight container.
  • For a creamier texture, add a little more chickpea liquid.
