Cold weather, heating and overeating can take their toll on the condition and appearance of your skin during the winter season. So, here’s a little reminder about the golden rules for happy skin this winter:
Golden rule 1: Moisturize your skin
Make sure you use a great facial moisturizer every morning and night, and give your body something daily that contains nourishing shea butter, like argan or coconut oil. This can help keep the skin smooth and protected*. Remember to apply lip balm as often as you remember. Keep lip balm by your bed, in your car, and in your coat pockets so it’s always close at hand.
Golden Rule 2: Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
The heat can have a drying effect on the body, so don’t skimp on your daily water intake. Experiment with herbal and fruit teas (they all count) or liven up your water bottle with chunks of fresh fruit. You might consider a humidifier at home to counteract the drying effect of heating appliances.
Golden Rule 3: Rest is the best thing
Your skin will thank you for plenty of rest – and it will show if it hasn’t had enough. So consider an early night or two to catch up on your sleep and help fade dark circles and sagging skin at the same time. Remember, bed time is a great opportunity to put on a hydrating product and let it work its magic overnight.
